There is an urgent deadline for hundreds of thousands of Americans to receive $150 in travel and gas payments

In order to receive $150 in travel and gas payments, thousands of Americans must act quickly.

It is required that you live in Chicago, be at least 18 years old, and have a current and valid city sticker with the correct mailing address.

You must also earn less than 100 percent of Chicago's median income, or $93,200 for a family of four.

To distribute the cards, a lottery will be held on the second week of every month through September.

Applications for the next lottery are due on Monday, August 1. Email notifications will be sent to those selected.

Chicago will issue up to 50,000 gas prepaid cards worth $150 and 100,000 transit prepaid cards worth $50 under the program.

It is possible to apply online, at any Chicago public library location, or by mailing a letter.

Mount Vernon, New York, will send $500 monthly payments to 200 residents through

a partnership with Mayors for a Guaranteed Income.

Through August 5, the application will be available online.

Participants in the universal basic income pilot

will be selected at random after the window closes.

“We are committed to building a dignity

economy in Mount Vernon,” Mayor Shawyn Patterson Howard said.
