A quick guide to 'relief payment checks': What you need to know

The impact of inflation is definitely being felt by American families.

As a result, many states are providing direct payments to provide relief.

In March 2021, as part of the American Rescue Plan, the Biden administration sent out

the last round of stimulus checks to millions of Americans. Individual states have since provided their own relief.

Insider reported that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' administration is sending $450 payments

per child to low-income families. A total of 17 other states are taking part in the relief effort as well.

In contrast to the Child Tax Credit, these relief payment checks are basically

stimulus checks sent out to Americans, aiming to "stimulate" the economy.

The Republican-led General Assembly has stalled Gov. Tom Wolf's proposal to

Give $2,000 payments to residents making $80,000 or less in Pennsylvania.

Past stimulus checks have been associated with rising inflation,

Which currently stands at 9.1%, the highest level in over four decades.

As a result, many Pennsylvania Republicans argue that

These direct payments will increase inflation.
