Millions of Americans will receive direct payments worth up to $1,500 starting TODAY - are you eligible?

Under a new cash assistance program, checks worth up to $1,500 are being sent out today.

Individual taxpayers will receive $750, while joint filers will receive $1500 under Colorado's tax rebate initiative.

Governor Jared Polis signed the measure into law in May.

Who is eligible?

Residents must be 18 years old by December 31, 2021, and have filed a state income tax return by then.

In addition, residents who applied for and qualified for a Property Tax/Rent/Heat Credit (PTC) Rebate may also be eligible.

The program is only open to those who lived full-time in 2021.

A check will be mailed to the address on the return for residents who filed jointly but have since been divorced.

When will it arrive?

2.4 million checks will be mailed today to residents, according to the Department of Revenue.

You will receive your refund by September 30, 2022, if you filed your taxes by June 30, 2022.

"DOR is updating its systems and testing to ensure that all refunds can be mailed out successfully," it said.

It is our goal to offer an online tracking mechanism through RevenueOnline in the near future."

The extended deadline of October 17 still applies to Coloradoans who missed the June filing deadline.

If you file after June 30, however, you will not receive your tax rebate until January.
