Do you know if you are owed stimulus payments? Here's how you can find out

You might not know that you're due another stimulus check - but there's a simple way to find out.

It would apply to the latest round of stimulus checks worth up to $1,400.

If an American's income is $75,000 or below, or $150,000 for a couple, he or she is eligible for the maximum payment.

Once the $1,400 check reaches those thresholds, it phases out and is capped out at $80,000 and $160,000.

Over 175 million third-round stimulus checks had been issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) by December 2021.

Most Americans have received their third stimulus payment, but a few groups may still be owed money.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration published a report in

March stating that more than 645,000 people were missing out on stimulus payments.

The following information is included, along with the number of people in each group who did not receive their payments:

1. Affected are 419,822 individuals with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) and a qualifying dependent

2. A total of 133,578 people are eligible for unemployment benefits exclusion

3. Falsely identified residents of US territories - 51,639 people

4. Affected were 39,666 individuals with filing changes or unresolved tax account conditions

It's easy to find out if you qualify for more stimulus money if you fall into one of these categories.

In 2021, Americans should have received up to two important letters regarding stimulus and child tax credits.

Letter "6475," relating to stimulus payments, determines whether you can claim the recovery rebate credit on your 2021 tax return.
