EVEN THOUGH this year's child tax credit benefits differ from last year's, thousands of American parents are receiving monthly payments.

At least 41 states and cities provide residents with universal basic income payments.

In March 2021, President Joe Biden signed the American Rescue Act into law, which will fund many of the programs.

Furthermore, the child tax credit maximum benefit was temporarily increased to $3,600 under the act.

As a result of Congress failing to extend the benefit, it is scheduled to revert to $2,000 this year.

Aside from that, no more monthly advances will be made.

State and city UBI programs give money to selected residents for UBI programs, so some groups of parents are getting regular payments.
