Don't hold your breath if you've been hoping for a fourth stimulus check.

Congress has not moved yet to cut older Americans more slack despite inflation reaching a 41-year high.

There is, however, a petition that argues that seniors should receive a fourth stimulus check of $1,400.

Congress had been considering a fourth stimulus check for SSI and Social Security beneficiaries.

Social Security claimants, who are one of the hardest hit by higher prices, have been calling for 

a one-time $1,400 stimulus check from the Senior Citizens League. Many older Americans with fixed incomes 

will be hit hard by the cost-of-living adjustment combined with inflation, according to a letter sent to Congress last year.

In the aftermath of the pandemic, many seniors shared their hardships, leading to the proposal.

The Senior Citizens League's Shannon Benton told The Sun: "We have received hundreds of emails from people struggling to make ends meet.

In many cases, the high cost of living adjustment just exacerbated their financial problems 

By bumping their income above program limits to qualify for Medicare savings programs.

There are other groups trying to get Congress' attention, including the Senior Citizens League.
