Benefit payment dates - including Social Security - are affected by Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's

There is a possibility that millions of households may see benefits hit their accounts

On other days due to federal holidays. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and

New Year's are federally recognized holidays, so payment schedules have changed in the past.

The weekday immediately before a weekend or federal holiday is when payments will be made.

Social Security payments, however, will not be affected by Thanksgiving,

Christmas, or New Year's Day, since they are usually made on Wednesdays.

If you were born between January 1 and October 10 of the current month,

you will usually receive your Social Security check on the second Wednesday of the month.

You'll instead be paid on the third Wednesday of the month if you were born between the 11th and the 20th.

Your payment will be made on the fourth Wednesday of the month for dates after the 20th.

In the event that your payment date falls on a federal holiday or

Weekend, you'll receive your payment the week before that date.
